Care by Volvo faces probe by Calif. DMV for franchise, consumer violations

The California Department of Motor Vehicles will review whether Volvo's 2-year-old subscription service diverts customers from dealers to the company, if Volvo failed to properly notify franchisees and the state's New Motor Vehicle Board about the program, if Care by Volvo preferentially allocates vehicles and sales to certain dealerships and if the program "undermines the purpose of prohibiting payment packing," according to the California New Car Dealers Association.
