Lucid launches base model of Air sedan at $78,975 as EV startup struggles with demand

The rear-drive Air is $5,000 less expensive than the all-wheel-drive Pure trim. The launch comes after Tesla cut the price of its Model S sedan by $3,500 last month to $76,630.
